Tristen Kerr

Tumby Bay, South Australia 5605

Trsten is a South Australian based contemporary artist. His work reflects his typographical background and he aims to reflect the environment he is working in. 'The Tide is Turning' is a deliberate nod to the slightly controversial beginnings of street art in a small coastal country town. In his paintings he likes to reflect the environment he is working in. Tristan is an artist from Adelaide. He is a printer/graphic designer by trade and all of his work has a phrase hidden in blocks of colour incorporating fonts. This piece reflects Tumby Bay’s positive changing attitude towards street art. Initially there was a level of trepidation towards street art amongst some elements of the community – and this art work reflects the changing attitude. It is titled “the tide is turning” – which is reflected in the text hidden in the work and acknowledges the community’s attitude change to one of embracing street art and what it has brought to our town. There are really great artworks on the stobie poles in this area, created by local students during one of the street art festivals. There are a number scattered around the central part of Tumby Bay.
