Smug

Tumby Bay, South Australia 5605

This is another Smug, done on Smug’s second visit to Tumby Bay. The first was the snapper. Because of the real friendship that developed between the local family who owned the wall, particularly with the 3 young sisters, Smug has painted this portrait of the youngest of these sisters. She had researched Smug before he had arrived to paint their wall and had a sketchbook full of Smug style skull drawings to show him! Smug’s skills with aerosol cans are amazing and demonstrate how detail and colour shadings can be achieved. The artists use different caps on the can to achieve the effect that they want. An example is the hair on this mural. It is amazing how the eyes and the earring sparkle, which brings the painting to life. Smug is Australian born and lives in Glasgow. His work is all around the world as well as in Australia.
